PANDA – Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia

Alarming statistics reveal that one in seven new mums and one in ten new dads develop postnatal depression after the birth of their baby.  That's 71,000 Australians every year. PANDA is the Post and Antenatal Depression Association, a telephone helpline offering women and their families support and information about depression and anxiety during pregnancy and after the birth of a baby. Encouraging women to talk about their depression is a crucial step on the road to recovery.

Children First Foundation

Since 1999, Children First Foundation has brought more than 300 seriously ill or injured children to Australia for life-changing surgery.  The Children First Foundation believes that every child deserves the best in life, including, exceptional care and pathways to a brighter future. This is possible through the relationships that Children First has built with Australian hospitals, surgeons and healthcare professionals.

Look Good – Feel Better

Cancer treatment has a devastating effect on the thousands of women diagnosed with the disease each year.  With an altered appearance from chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the effects extend beyond the physical and can result in lowered self-esteem. Look Good...Feel Better is a free community service program provided by the charitable organisation, the Cancer Patients Foundation Ltd., helping women manage these side effects through hands-on workshops run by volunteer beauty consultants. These qualified personnel offer practical advice for skin care, make-up, hats, wigs, and other headwear; helping to restore the appearance and self image of these women.

Alzheimers Australia

Dementia is the broad term that describes the symptoms of sufferers who experience a progressive decline of their everyday ability affecting memory, intellect, rationality and social and physical functioning. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease, accounting for up to 70% of all cases. Dementia can happen to anybody, but it is far more common after the age of 65. Alzheimer's Australia is the charity for people with dementia and their families and carers. It provides advocacy, support services, education and information through a range of leading national programmes.

Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation

Somewhere in the world, every two minutes, a woman dies from cervical cancer, yet it is the  only cancer that can be prevented by the vaccine that was developed in a world-first by Australian researchers. The Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) is dedicated to saving women's lives by eliminating cervical cancer through awareness, vaccination and screening in both Australia and developing countries. ACCF believes this vaccine should be made available to women everywhere and the Foundation works hard to provide screening and vaccine free for women in developing countries.
